hi, hello! I’m dre.

I’m a photographer and art director currently working in the midwest.

Photography and I found each other during my final semester at UW–Madison, when I was living abroad in Florence, Italy. We fell in love. Shortly after graduating, I went back to school for commercial photography, and I’ve been working near or on a set ever since. In the last seven-or-so years, I’ve worn nearly every hat on set: assistant, producer, stylist, photographer, videographer and art director.

In 2017, I took a year-long break from the freelance world to work at an Advertising Agency as a Traffic Manager… but, as it turns out, the call to create was too strong. I returned to set-life in 2018 as an Art Director on the Social Media team at Kohl’s. There, I collaborated with internal team members (copywriters, videographers, designers) to concept, storyboard, procure swipe, and ideate organic and promoted Kohl's social media creative for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat.

Notable projects at Kohl’s (Art Direction and collaboration with incredible teams) include: Kohl’s Hacks & Hauls YouTube Webisode series, Kohl’s Holiday Giphy Gifs, 2018 Black Friday SM content (which yielded $22MM in revenue, 150% YOY), 2018 Q3 Influencer YouTube content, 2018 Back-to-School Promoted Pinterest content.

Other clients I’ve worked with, while wearing different hats: Allen Edmonds, ALS Association, Aurora Healthcare, Bon Ton, Cousin’s Subs, Fortune Magazine, Harley Davidson, Johnsonville, Kohl’s, Milwaukee Tool, Snap-on, UW-Madison, Wantable.

I enjoy the challenge of concepting digital creative based on objectives, considering and combining DATA with VISUALS when ideating. What’s worked previously and why? How can we update it to work now? What are our competitors creating? How can we be different? How can we successfully speak to our target audience? How can we go beyond just engagement, to obtain conversion? These are the questions I ask myself when starting a project.

on the weekends…

I balance my day-duties with my personal projects, focusing largely on analog photography, darkroom experimentation, audio interviews, and short-form video.
